Track Improvements

Update April 26, 2017

The prioritized list below is the work schedules for completion spring of 2017 at Thunder Mountain Raceway dependent on funding:

1 — We will milling 2” of the existing  asphalt 14’ wide in both race lanes. Install 2″ of new high traction designed asphalt mix  from the end of the existing concrete launch pad to the finish line.

2 — We will  grinding the existing concrete launch pad to remove high spots and improve traction in both lanes. Eliminate the dip at 3/4 track location in both lanes.

3 — We will clear the area from the end of the asphalt track to the road leading the oval as a  extended emergency shutdown. Delete the plans to install a 200 foot emergency pit filled with washed 3/8″ rock.

4 — We will installing a basic LED lighting system to improve the visibility along the track and in the staging area and the stands.

We now have some  of the financing in place thanks to some great racers and fans and businesses  but we still need help from the rest of the racers, fans and club members. The more money we can raise the better job we can do with each of these projects. These improvements will not only make our facility better, safer and faster but will also attract out of town racers and extend the life of our facility and the sport.  “Now “ is the time for all you RACERS, FANS and MEMBERS to come forward and help us with this huge project. The paving is now scheduled for May 15 and completion by May 18.

Don’t forget this is all for “YOU”. Names and amounts will not be published unless requested. Donate only what you can afford but remember even small amounts add up in the end. Thanks

Donations can be made at TOPS AUTO, e-transfer, mailing a cheque to PO Box 2467 Kelowna BC V1Y 6A5

2 — We will be grinding the surface of the concrete launch pad to level and improve the surface of the concrete from one end of the concrete launch pad to the other
3 — We will be adding a sand pit type emergency shut down pit at the end of the track
4 — We will be installing a basic LED lighting system to improve the visibility in the down track area, staging area and the stands.
