Welcome to Thunder Mountain Raceway's Archive Page For 2005

Revised 2007

Dec 15 05
Not much to report on this months general meeting held on the 13th, other than the debate over Super Pro/Pro, electronics versus non electronics. The general thought is that the 06 season will likely see a change in the way Thunder Mountain Raceway splits it's classes. As you know now we follow the time break with Super Pro being 7.99 seconds and quicker. 5/10 Full Tree  electronics or not and Pro starting at  9.79 - 8.00 seconds. 5/10 Full Tree. Some of the new ideas are to stop the 5/10 full tree and use a 4 or 5/10s Pro tree. this would negate the delay box factor but would put our track at a disadvantage when our members go to Ashcroft, Mission etc. The most common method would be to play like Ashcroft/Mission etc and just split the classes electronics! then you run S/P.  Non electronics puts you in Pro. The problem brought up by the electronics users at the meeting was the S/P class on the hill would be down to between 4 possibly 6 cars in the field, this would make for a semi boring class racing the same few drivers all year. The other disadvantage to this would expand the size of the pro class to an even larger field than it already is example 30 cars in pro and the half dozen in S/P. Along the lines of this split it was brought up that we could change the bump between Sportsman and Pro thus allowing some of the slower Sportsman cars to drop back to the Sportsman class. But as all drag racers know . no one wants to slow down, it goes against the whole principal of the sport. There will likely be A CHANGE SO... lets see more drivers from these two classes at the meetings in the new year so YOU can be heard and your vote can be counted. TMR wants an exact count for the Jan. meeting of the regulars who plan to run electronics or non electronics.

More news from last meeting not being as important but, we are planning to have a non business meeting/ think tank get together in Jan perhaps a week after the general meeting Jan 10 06. This will give all racers and family and members to come out voice their opinions as to what they would like to see happening at our track in the 06 season. We all have many ideas but for the most part few are ever brought up at the general meetings due to time constraints. Some of the ideas hit on so far have been, paving, parking, volunteers, apparel, decals, the Fri night program, holding a night race, special events weekends, bash for cash, invitational, the list goes on and on. There are only 5 regular meetings till test n tune so lets get a head start on some of these items. It was mentioned that the get together could be booked for our regular meeting room at the Holiday Inn with an advanced head count taken thus allowing us to organize food, snacks, refreshments etc. It was also suggested that we could  meet at a  centrally located pub or restaurant. Updates will be posted after our Jan 10th 06 general meeting

The above posting was slightly reworded since the original date posted........... jym

I couldn't find a banquet photo of Bill Hutton showing off his trophy awarded for the volunteer of the year. Nancy Siddon was not present at the banquet due to family commitments thus no photo of her being awarded the OASC member of the year. Below are pics of Laura Millsip being awarded the Aaron Kunstar  trophy and the Rudy Webber memorial award being given to Bob Hansen.

Here is a photo of my 1928 model A, taken in 1965 and in the background you can see my 49 Crosely which I had under construction at the time. I had to give up running the model A at the drags, because the motor had more than a 10% set back, and it didn't have full fenders, so they classed it as a C/Altered, which made it non competitive, because it was also a street legal car.

Here is a photo of another friend of mine racecar (again I cant remember his name) of his 31 coupe with a 331 chrysler hemi for power
As always if anyone has any information on this car they can pass on to Kerry or myself please do
I would also like to ask all members and non members alike if they can send in any nostalgia pics to put on the site please do as we are running out here very soon. I know there is lot of old pics out there that would love to be showcased here in the spotlight.

November 27, 2005 Well racers, thanks to the responsible attitude and dedication to TMR, its members and participants...Mark Schuppener, Charles Siddon, Kerry & Adam Beebe, Joe Wallace, Terry McHardy and myself spent the better part of this past Sunday “putting the track to bed.” The signage was taken down and stored in the basement, all the hundreds of dollars in cords and lighting were secured, the top and ground floor of the tower was cleaned and straightened up, the tech shack was thoroughly wiped down and swept, and all the “left behind” important documents and equipment were removed to safer quarters. Unfortunately we had no way to get the work truck down, so the guys made it as secure as they could, checked the antifreeze level, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed. Unfortunately the battery was not removed and stored, so that will be on the list of expenses for the new year. The blower was tailored down to have much overdue work done. The pictures just don’t show how difficult this was with 8-10 inches of snow, but there was a lot of determination. Our appreciation to Charles for hauling his trailer up to rescue this piece of track equipment. Thanks again to the above mentioned individuals for taking the time out of their weekend. This will make the start up in the spring that much easier. Laura Millsip

Updates, updates, updates....lets see...sorry there are none,  sure there are

WE WILLLLLL WE WILLLL ROCK YOU.....

For starters The little track on the mountain had two yes two Blown Hemi Altereds  on track to keep the fans entertained in the near freezing weather conditions. Not say the blown alky chevy's were also putting up a good showing, there were the usual crowd of Kerry Beebe, Steve Kendall and Neil Lachelt and Gene Beaureguard. Lets not forget the two injected chevy's to round out the Top Comp field we also had Hair Straight Back Racings Pere Zmean  and the newest driver in Top Comp Tyson Carr, News has it along with the drivers above there will at least four new drivers in the top comp field, "let's get ready to Rumbbbbble"

The Hough pit was a bustle of activity all day Saturday and well into the night as Gary and Mike were rebuilding the Hemi in the TF2 Altered. Buy Sunday noon as you can see there were rockin' and put in a thundering pass to show the fans "hey we will be running in Ashcroft on Saturday for sure"

seen on for the Mountain for the first time in say 7 years or more was a crowd favorite with some serious runs that had the spectators checking out the right side tires for scrap marks. As one photographer put it, "it looked close but lots of room if using the metric system" How many centimeters you say?
With tidbit of excitement out of the way in my opinion the hit of the day Tyson Carr, the ex Junior digger champion for years on the hill came to the last race with his ...and dad's Al Carr "former TMR track record holder" of course full sized digger, Tyson last raced Juniors in 02/03 but after Sunday proved the in the 06 season he will be a force to contend with in the Top Comp ranks.

Not only did Tyson run Kerry Beebe on Sunday whom also I might add runnered up in the event, he also was up against Perre Zmean once and "Go Hard" Gene Beauregard twice because of a timing error. Speaking of Gene in the Bare Necessities Dragster, his last run of the 05 season ended with a bang of sorts while running down Tyson grenades an engine but still took the win with a breakout.

Despite the battle of switching from Alcohol to Gas mid season due to tougher rules and regs Go Hard Gene was still a contender in the Top Comp Class shown here on a pass that would see the crankshaft snap at three quarter track.

Gene wasn't the only driver having troubles in the TMR season final shown here the Big the Bad Neil Lachelt was doomed from the  first run with Trans brake troubles

Attention in the Pits....Attention in the Pits.........

Well Racers, we have reached the final race of the '05 season, and it will be a "biggie"! the "Nicks Performance Automotive" Season Finale

First, It is the Final race of our 6 race series. which is huge in of itself. Saturday Night will be the annual Bar-B-Q and Racers social. with meals and refreshments by: Good Stuff Catering.  There is rumors of a band, a Group called, BC/DC. they are an AC/DC "Tribute" band. they also perform "cover songs" among others. This should be great entertainment! I will attempt to keep the music to a level at which, you will still be able to speak to, and hear your neighbor. (this was not always easy in the past)

Sept 30 thru Oct 1-2 will also feature the "Street Legal Challenge"
This will be a slight change from both the "Super Street Shootout" and our, Friday Night "Instant Green" Format.
All "Street Legal" vehicles will be allowed to enter. $40 per entry for 2 days of racing.
Qualifying and *K.O.H. Saturday and "Quick 16" Eliminations Sunday. (your *K.O.H. fee's are separate.)
The rules will be loosely formatted around the "ET Street" rules on the coast. Vehicles must have valid Insurance (Permit OK), D.O.T. approved tires (No slicks) All vehicles must be equipped with Muffler's, there is no muffler rule on Friday night
ANY Vehicle running 9.79 or faster will require a helmet.
We will run on a 5/10's "full" tree. or "sportsman" tree as some call it.

As Stated above, we will take the fastest 16 cars( or trucks) and race them in an elimination style, bracketed (Handicap) format. with Round #1 "ladder" or, pairings based on reaction times...not your E.T. there will be payouts and awards for, first, second and third place.
These vehicles will run alongside our season finale rounds all day Sunday.

Friday Night racers,.. you have been asking for this race all year, and here it is! This is your chance to both shine, and to let everyone see, just what your machine can do!..... C'mon up and "Drag it out" with the Big Boys! With the formula as Nick and I have set it, anyone can win this deal and go home with the gold (and cash!)

Strap on that helmet and Pull those belts tight!.... we're going Racing!! See YOU in staging!

* = King of the Hill/Gamblers race

Once again, thank you to: "Nicks Performance Automotive" for their continued support of both TMR and the "Instant Green" street legal series.

This info also taken from the forum page and as said above, if anyone wants to add anything to this forward the info to myself

info on the record runs is as follows

Neil's first attempt at the record was on the Saturday as the last run of the day, this run had to be aborted at less than half track due to the front wheels being close to 2 feet in the air for well over the first 100 feet of track and veering to within 1 foot of the guard rail in the spectator lane the run had to be aborted.

First attempt on Sunday turned in a stout  4.484 @ 163.321 beating out TMR's previous of "0.00 at 000 mph record

Neil's back up attempt pulled off a  4.467 @ 162.307

so for the numbers guru's the 4.48 "backs up" the 4.46
the 162 mph "backs up" the 163 mph run

resulting TMR's new track record of
4.467 @ 163.321

A NEW TRACK RECORD !!
4.467 @ 163.321 stands as our "official" track record as of now.

News flash... Thunder Mountain finally gets 6th points race added to their racing season. Yes drivers we now have a 6th points race in our 05 season, the dates are already listed on the schedule and points pages, We also want to let all racers know that for this season only we will allow the racers to drop one race from their points list. You decide which race you want to drop, we thought it best this way because perhaps some of you may have already scheduled time off on the Sep 17 18 weekend. This is also the weekend of TMR's giant cash bash so the points race will be held on the Saturday...make a note the Saturday is race day with the cash bash and Jr Dragster invitational being run on the Sunday. So far there has not been a Friday night street race scheduled and there will be no King of the hill race on Saturday.

I also want to add that TMR's Super Street Car Shootout has been changed to another date by request from the organizers and sponsors of the event to take the conflict with another street shootout already scheduled in the province. TMR's shootout will now be held on Sunday Oct 02 race weekend. We at TMR apologize if this schedule change interferes with any racers who might have scheduled their holidays etc for the earlier shootout date

218 MPH Time Slip
 for
  T42

-        Crowd goes wild

-        Fans Swarm pit space

-        Sylvester wrenches

-        Hough Humble

-        Leon’s mood decipitates.

Fans swarm pit space

Even before the T42’s historic blast, a fan, ( actually another racer), came over to our pit space to see how we built our awning. Then to top it all off, every time they ran the jet cars, they swarmed through our pit space to get to the grandstands. Next time I ‘m not gonna pit so close to the grand stand road, because frankly, it was a bit of a bother.

Crowd goes wild

The normally sedate Spokane fans produced an unprecedented out pouring of hooting praise when  one of the “Fox Hunt” contestants took the announcers cries of “skin to win” seriously. We were in the staging lanes though and didn’t see it. However , after the 218 pass, the crew in the tow car thought they heard  somebody yell something that didn’t sound mean or end in a swear word. And when the announcer, during an oil down, said “ are there any Canadians in the crowd?”, well, the Canadians yelled even louder than the people from Idaho or Montana, but not Washington. They were loudest. We didn’t see that, but we heard it.

Sylvester wrenches

Gary and Cory showed up unexpectedly to lend a  hand.      When quizzed about Sylvester’s contribution to the epic 218 MPH run,  Hough  had this to say, “I’ve had a lot of good help, but this time slip is 26 mph better than the last one. And I  like his name. Too bad  Troy wants him back”.

Hough Humble When asked if he thought that the valley racers should call him “Gary , King of Speed” and bow on hands and knees before him, crying,  “we are not worthy,” he was heard to say, “This is not about Hero worship, although I guess some people will feel inclined that way, this is about that bum, Kenny Bersnstien, stealing my proper title, and  besides, Clara should be  called Queen, and the kids should be called Princes and Princesses of  Speed and the future

Leon’s mood decipates

After a full track spin fest that ended in a loss to T42 and  the legendary “King of Speed”, Hough, northwest notable Leon Aines , ponders the wisdom of his quip,  “I’ll bet my boots the Beach City Corvette will blow the doors off  that  T42. Everybody knows I went 218 in Port Alberni”.

THUNDERrrrrrrrrrrrrrr     MOUNTAINnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLEeeeeee
Randy Bradford Fire Your Engineeeeeeeeee

Did I get your attention?
Yes Randy Bradford with his Nitro Burning Fuel Altered will be on the mountain June 25 to make at least three yes three full blown passes. There hasn't been a rumble on the mountain of this magnitude since the Nitro Funny cars of the mid 90's which brought several thousand fans to the facility for a day of fire and thunder breathing hemi engines displaying tire melting, ear deafening, ground shaking power and the laying down of continuous eight mile burnouts.  Come early for best seating, bring a lawn chair and your sunscreen for a full day of hard hitting full out drag racing on the Okanagan's only fully equipped drag strip

*cackle = start motor and feel the sound, the smell, the and the feel of  2500 hp on NITRO METHANE.

"Overdrive 2005"  Survives the rain !!
The; "Overdrive 2005"  car show,   hosted by; Holiday Inn (Westbank location) and Thunder Mountain Raceway , have cranked out another hit !
This event was a "first" for both, Holiday Inn. and "Thunder Mountain" event organizers, and went off with a hitch. Race Cars, Street machines, Awesome Bikes and several very sweet sports cars, began streaming into the Holiday Inn parking lot at about 9:30am. greeted by friendly gate staff,  they were then shown to their show stalls. The bands (5 of them!!),  showed on time. And the "bandstand" showed shortly there-after. (Thanks to a flat-bed supplied by Wayne and the group over at, D&M Auto Recycling.. thanks guys.) Christine from the "Power 104/Ckov  "Events Team"  Made the show, with live, "on-air" radio promotions, and give away's,  including, several Free "Def-Leppard" tickets !!  The Holiday Inn's "go-to-guy".... Sheldon, was kept jumping all day, for chairs, tables, umbrellas, you name it, and deserves a pat on the back too...thanks man!
Several of the show highlights included,  Gene "Go hard" Beauregard, Cranking up that 1500+hp, Alcohol injected  "Top/Comp" Dragster, every  hour and a half or so. Just to get the crowd jumping ! And not  about be out-done "Big Dave" (that's his name honest) Fired up His equally powerful  Mud/Sand Dragster. Also "alky" powered, Blown and  Injected and Painted in the most "obscene" green color you have ever  laid eyes on this machine was suitably named "SHREK" and Folks, you had to see  it to believe it. What's "Green" and goes 200 mph ??? *Sniff*, I dunno. The Kids were loving every second!
Now the crowd was getting excited. and generous too!, Just over $100 dollars was raised, towards Thunder Mountain Raceways "Track/Park improvement fund"   And several boxes of non-perishable items were donated to the  Westbank Food Bank as well. (Thanks everyone). I even saw several folks asking for  Okanagan Auto Sports Club  "membership" and "Volunteer" forms we had available. Now there's a good  thing!, as our Club "grows", so will Thunder Mountain.!
Back to the show,...  A very diverse mix of exhibitors were on hand, from a:  2004(5?)- Chevrolet "SSR". to a "nineteen-thirty something?" "Tudor" parked way at the back... several  great  looking  Harley Davidson Motorcycles were on display. parked right alongside two of Thunder Mountains premier drag bikes,  Chris Ross and Leo Beauregard.... What a great time !!  There seemed to be a little something for everyone. Even,  William and team, from: okanaganracing.com were on hand, clicking "Pics" for posterity (or evidence?.. hmmnn..?) as well as meeting and greeting everyone possible. Thanks for the coverage and support William.. keep up the great work.
So from free face painting for the "younger" crowd. to, temporary "Skin Art" for the Adults (and some kids too!) along with great  support from the Royal Canadian Legion,  Fogg 'N Suds,  Dairy Queen and the adjacent Shell Station, pretty much everyone's needs were covered.
When all the smoke cleared,  uhh Literally thanks to "Team-Motor-Tree's" captain, Doug Dipple's, hugely popular burnout display, and under threatening skys, (it never did rain by the way) we crowned the "winners " of the car show...
" Peoples Choice"
By very popular vote (40+%..wow !) among both competitors and  spectators alike, was the absolutely stunning,  1969 Dodge Charger R/T. shown by: Dave Wallis and son, Kyle. This beautiful, Black hardtop was the talk of the show all day!  The Immaculate 440  Magnum powered Charger was/is, Dave's first car!  And,.. this was Dave's, (and the Charger's)  "First" show ever! congratulations on a well earned, and deserved "Peoples Choice" Award.

"Best Bike in Show"

Also very high in the votes for both Bikes and  "Peoples Choice", was (last name pending) Russels  very, very intense,  Harley "Shovel-head" Chopper Covered in the most un-real  yellow uh gold? umm lime? err, you tell me what color it was! Russels machine looked awesome  under the mid-day sun! I wont forget it very soon. Russells win in the the "Bike" category voting was followed closely  by late entrant (in the registration)  Chris Ross's  Kawasaki  "Pro-Gas"  Drag Bike.  Also sporting a brand new re-designed machine for the '05 race season.... The Air-brushed "flame" inspired paint Job was very hot...very hot indeed! ..don't get too close.

"Directors Choice"
Then came the very tough, "Directors Choice" award, chosen by the organizers of the "overdrive 2005" show itself.... it came down to two machines...  A Pristine ,Custom  1953(4?) "Chebbie" pick-up, with "Candy Apple"   (red)  paint, that was, soooo "deep" you felt like you could swim  in it or Gene Beauregard's  "Alky"  powered "Top/Comp " Dragster.  that had kept the crowd screaming for more all day !
After many moments of deliberation "Go Hard" Beauregard was announced as the winner of "Directors choice".  It was felt, that Gene (and team), had made the biggest "impact" on the show in general. and, they had truly kicked this show into OVERDRIVE !!! Way to go Gene. (Gene made it very clear, he owes all the thanks to his girl, Lori with his crew, John Riggs. and Rob Seeger who did all the "hard" stuff.) GREAT team effort!
After the show, several participants repaired downstairs, to the ballroom. where Dinner, "Bench racing" and, the band "Column" were waiting to play all night for Us. The roast beef, and/or lasagna dinner was great. and the dancing went on untill we were all worn out.  which truthfully, did not take that  long.  I believe we may see this band sometime in the near future at a TMR event as well, they were darned good and work for free! (for now)
In conclusion, The organizers agree... the Holiday Inn/Thunder Mountain, "car-show" may become an "annual" event ! and we are confident, that the show will continue to grow, and become even more popular. look for updates on next years dates and show "name" to be announced soon.
On behalf of, Denine Jackson (Holiday Inn-Westbank) and myself, Todd Evans (Race Director/Thunder Mountain Raceway) we would like to thank ALL of the volunteers, supporting businesses or groups, and co-organizers as well as the exhibitors and spectators too, for making the "Overdrive 2005" show a great success! see you all (and more) at next summers Event!

I just put together a page of photos from  the test n tune. Follow this link for quick access PHOTOS

June 06 05
2005  "Test n' Tune" weekend

The 2005 "test n tune" is in the books, and will be called a success!

28 race cars came to staging on Sunday June 5, with 29 drivers. and all were "chomping at the bit" to get going!... and get going we did!  The track surface was still  pretty "green" at the beginning of the day, and traction was at a premium for the first several rounds. some of the racers were very entertaining to say the least!... no names of course ( Gene, Keith, Ralph and Tim, do seem to jolt something though...lol) ... and the Simply retarded  burnouts (burn downs?) by Josh J. and John C. had the crowd screaming for more! ..Both of these guys must work for tire shops hehe.

Gene "Go Hard" Beauregard, Had his rebuilt Dragster out, making a few mid to low (5.20's) "easy" passes, also debuting his cool new, home-made "intercooler" mounted to the top of that fresh, screaming, supercharged small-block ! and that machine can run !! four second Et's are not far away for this team.
Steven Kendall, (def. champ) came to race, but mechanical gremlins kept him out of the program.  too bad Steve, we we're looking forward to seeing that 1500+ hp Dragster to lay down some Hits.
Peter Rudy, had his new machine out, a 84? mazda RX7, with a wicked small block ford in it. this machine is going to fly as well,.. look out "super-pro"
Kevin Duchesne, had his Beaumont set on Kill, and was wowing the crowd! even more so, when his wife (Lee - Leigh?) took the wheel for several  6 second "easy" passes as well ! NOW the crowd was getting into it! This woman can drive folks...wow, is all I can say!
Chris Ross, (def. Champ) also unveiled his freshened Kawasaki as well,.. and folks,.. this machine looks AWESOME!!! everything on this bike is new/redesigned, and can you say incredible? the paint alone was worth the wait for me,.. I think I burned my fingers on those realistic looking flames... yowch !  Chris's, first couple passes were also very ..err... "entertaining",  can you say "English"  boys and girls?...good.. I knew you could.  We thought Chris was using his rear tire, to "wave" at the crowd lol what a Ride !
Tim Deplonty, had his chevy set on "kill" and the rev-chip set at about 5500 rpm,..    I mean this thing would just SCREAM when launching...Incredible.  to say nothing of the "wave" he gave the crowd as well !
Chris Pottie, had his new Race-Sled out and ripping up the tarmac as well. I love these sleds, what a show they put on.
Kayle Shaw (def. champ) had his re-designed Jr. Digger out for all to see. and laid down some impressive passes as well. to think this beast is faster that the 240Z I drive is crazy!

And as always "Good stuff/On-site" catering did a great job of keeping us all fed once again... thanks to, Rita and Team.

These are just a few of the sights this weekend, I could go on all day!

I would also like to add, how great, Thunder Mountain Raceway Looked. The work party on Saturday was very well attended, with over 35 volunteers on hand throughout the day. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to all involved... The Burnout boxes were scraped clean, and scraped some more. This in itself was a massive job. and one that was badly needed for several seasons.  The entire starting line area was painted/detailed, and looks awesome. Several sets of new grandstands were packaged for assembly, and as soon as I have the lumber (donations?), and hardware (bolts, nuts). we will erect seating for at least a hundred more spectators ! The entire track was swept, shoveled clean. and swept again. The "new" shutdown transition area was smoothed over as well, and awaits paving SOON.  And, last but not least, nearly all of the 2005 sponsor signage has been erected ....Thanks again to everyone. TMR has never looked so good!

I look forward to seeing many of you at this weekends "Overdrive 2005" Car Show/Shine/Swap Meet, at the Holiday Inn (westbank location), this Saturday June 11. 10am - 6-pm. 50/50 draws hourly (partial proceeds to TMR's park/track improvement fund), live rotating bands all day, 3 trophy's (peoples choice, directors choice and Best Bike of Show) special room rates to show patrons. dinner and dance to follow show (6pm),  No admission for Show, please bring a food bank donation.  swap meet by donation to TMR's "park/track Improvement Fund"

Don't forget...Thunder Mountains "Season Opener" in just 3 weeks time! June 24-25-26
Volunteers are still needed for the 2005 Drag race season, sign up today! what better way to experience drag racing up close?  If you, or your friends or family, want to join our "family",  call or E-mail us today!

see you in staging in 3 weeks!

Here is the wildest race car to ever run at San Coble in 1964/65.  It must easily be the worlds first ever Rear Engine Dragster/Altered/Streamliner/Funny Car, but it actually ran really good as I recall.

A couple issues brought up at last nights meeting of the drag race division have to brought forward to the whole club so as fair and equal opportunity vote can be achieved at the next meeting which will be held on June 14 05. First of all the matter of selling reserved pit spaces to members in good standing with the OASC  for a period of 5 years. This is a very hot and debated topic which brought more members out to last nights meeting than I have seen in ages if not years. Unfortunately we didn't hold the vote as the general membership felt we should have every members opinion on the matter before going forward with the vote.
So!!!! be advised on June 14 the club will vote the issue, be there to be heard. "you must be a paid up member of the OASC to vote this issue" if you cant make the meeting due to a work commitment please contact Todd  250-870-4582 or Denise  250-712-0858 to express your absentee vote.

Second there are a few members that feel thunder mountain should change our time brake classification rules to follow the rule set by division 6 and run the Pro and Super pro classes as electronics "super pro" and no electronics "Pro" this change would put un a level playing field with the other tracks in BC. So what the club needs to know is an opinion from all Pro and super Pro racers. The intention is not have lets say 6 cars in super pro and 26 in pro, but hopefully a more equal class size than we now have. Now if you are a car that races Super Pro or Pro  you should send an email to  Gerry Pieters  or call him at Thunder Alley Transmissions 250-493-6269 to record your electronics versus non electronics IE: "the box" This should be done right away as the season is close at hand and if we are to change the ruling we will need time to reset the classes before race day

Her is a Six Carburetor induction Chrysler hemi, an front motor dragster, owner unknown, taken at San Coble around 1965/66. Notice the slicks, I purchased the slicks and wheels off this car a few months after this photo was taken, for my '49 Crosely.  I still have them today and they are in great shape. Kerry Beebe Photo

I would also like to let the public know that last night TMR started a Pit Improvement Fund. for the  whole pit area in general IE: re grading and filling leveling off of the sportsman pit providing better access to all pits for larger trailers etc: This will also be a step toward to the total paving of all the pits on TMR The fund started off with several $100.00 and $50.00 donations Every member should try to donate to the fund as it will benefit everyone, no amount id too small it was suggested that 3 to 4 thousand dollars would be well enough to complete planned project. We have the fill/crush/gravel on hand the fund is for the excavating, hauling and grading equipment etc: donations can be sent to:
OASC/Thunder Mountain Raceway,
po box# 61 Kelowna B.C. V1Y-7N3
        ** Attn: Pit Fund **

Here is the Psycho T, powered by a, ported and relieved, bored and stroked, three carbed,  Isky camed, 49A block, with full floating bearings, flathead motor, finned aluminum high compression heads.  It was owed by a good friend of mine (who's name I can't remember for the life of me).  It was street legal, and was one wild ride, as it never, never, went where you pointed it, but man was it a gas to go cruising in on Friday night in Down Town Victoria.  Kerry Beebe Photo
One other item I might add to this update is a motion was put on the floor last night to double the cost of the King Of The Hill race held Saturdays after qualifying, the motion was put to a vote and passed. So the 05 season will see the cost of KOH rise to $20.00 to enter and no buy back with a first round loss.

The truck will indeed be back at 8am, and he's bringing a second truck with him!
I believe this project will be completed Monday... Equipment willing.
(it has to be, ...the Excavator is booked at Big White, tues. am)

Yes, A HUGE thank you to, "Pitura Enterprises" for the tandem dump-truck. and, Thomas Willcocks. the operator. without his continued offers to stay on project, despite other bookings, we would not be nearly as completed. this young lad (27) puts the load right where you want it, every time....
Thank you. as well to, Rob Seeger for setting up the unbelievable deal he arranged, with the Pitura group. John Riggs got us the good deal on the Culvert.
You should have seen, John, Rob, Doug and Jean B. ..Almost Up to their Knees, in gumbo muck, placing the culverts exactly where they wanted it,....the thought of, "Tar Babies" comes to mind...lol...I'm holding those pics for ransom...hehehe.

Also, extra large Thank Yous. to, Tree Tops Holdings/K&M for the extra Excavator time. Again,.. Curtis is an Excellent, experienced and talented Operator, that (thankfully) wastes no time or machine hours.

Unfortunately, an untimely flat tire called an early end to the day. but, all is not lost, and we are un-daunted! The machine will be at, Kal-Tire (rutland) at 7:30am, for repairs and I hope to be at, TMR @ 8:30.

With Darren, Curtis, Thomas and Doug D. along with a, yet to be named 2nd Dump truck driver, we will complete the new exit by days end.......providing all goes according to anticipated plan.
Derek has been Video Documenting the work. and even a few decent "still" shots are surfacing.

Thanks to All who participated this weekend

Hello readers, racers and fans..... and good to see you.

It started as a small snowball ....at the top of a hill...with a gentle nudge...

As some of you may know, there was a work party planned for this Saturday,
(apr 16).up at TMR. Mostly to clean up, after our last lumber-jack mission 2 weeks ago, to clear a path for where a new 2nd safety exit would go, some 250+ feet beyond our existing Exit. Hoping to "someday", fill the trench and build a road/exit through there.
To better handle the much much faster race cars we are attracting. we felt it was a necessity. And part of the "Future" of, Thunder Mountain.

Someday is here!...and now!
In a monumental effort by many people, and several companies around the valley, all of the elements necessary to complete the project, in a very very short time, have b
